Emancipation Remembrance Day UK seeks to establish a tradition of acknowledging and celebrating our history fostering a tradition of celebrating our past and promoting awareness of Black History and Heritage. It’s an opportunity to delve into our customs, traditions, and legacy through enlightening talks, insightful displays, and engaging discussions.

The Slavery Abolition Act of 1833, which marked the end of slavery in the British Empire on August 1, 1834, is commemorated as Emancipation Day in the British West Indies during the first week of August.  This tradition is now being introduced to the UK.

This event is free to attend and offers activities and information for all attendees. Full details for the 2024 Emancipation Remembrance Day UK are currently being finalised, with updates expected soon. The entertainment and presenter line-up is also being confirmed, with more announcements forthcoming.
